In just two weeks, Inspir3d Studio transformed the saddle cover customization experience of Bike Sellier: loading a 3D object went from over eight minutes to fifteen seconds at most, without sacrificing the visual quality of the product.Results at a glance

Customizing a saddle cover in 3D
Bike Sellier offers customizable saddle covers for 50 cc motorcycles. To let customers design a cover that matches their style, the company used a 3D configurator built into its e-commerce experience. Colours, textures, patterns and different areas of the saddle could be customized. The goal was simple: let buyers see their creation before placing an order. But behind this immersive experience lay a major problem: loading a single 3D object could take more than eight minutes. A huge wait for a user who simply wants to customize a product.The challenge: a 3D experience too heavy for e-commerce
The problem came mainly from the complexity of the 3D models. Each file contained more than a million meshes, which considerably slowed loading and hurt the fluidity of the configurator. Inspir3d Studio’s mission was to solve this without compromising the visual quality of the product. Three objectives were set:- Significantly reduce the weight and complexity of the 3D models.
- Recreate all the colours and textures of the saddle covers.
- Optimize their integration into the Zakeke configurator.
Rethinking 3D for performance
01. Optimized 3D remodeling
We took the existing models and reduced their geometric complexity.- Before: over 1,000,000 meshes per file.
- After: around 200,000 meshes per file.
02. A complete overhaul of colours and textures
Optimization could not come at the expense of aesthetics. We therefore reworked the materials, colours and textures available in the configurator. Each customizable area had to let users preview the different combinations offered by Bike Sellier, preserving the richness of the product experience despite the lighter 3D models.03. Once the models and textures were reworked, we integrated and configured them in Zakeke, so users can customize their saddle cover through a much faster 3D experience.From over eight minutes to fifteen seconds
Before our work, a 3D object could take more than eight minutes to load. After optimization, fifteen seconds at most were enough: loading time was divided by more than 32. Buyers now reach the customization experience much faster. Where slowness used to be an obstacle, the configurator can now do its job more effectively: helping customers visualize their future product.The configurator in action
Revenue multiplied by five
The results reported by Bike Sellier showed strong growth in the months following the overhaul.- Two months after delivery: revenue multiplied by three compared with the period before our work.
